Ducks Unlimited presented a variety of activities related to waterfowl
and one of the most tense activity was the duck calling contest by the young Greenwings

THE LEWIS & CLARK COTTONWOOD TREE WILL BE DEDICATED
IN MEMORY OF JIMMIE DITTMER ON OCTOBER 9

On the west side of the teepee the Eastern cottonwood tree now stands five feet tall
Grown from a seed taken from the one surviving cottonwood tree
the Lewis party camped under in 1806
the 24" tree was planted in April 2004


A black cottonwood donated by the City of Richland and planted in May 2004
was dined on by an itinerant beaver in June
With fencing and ties protecting it from diners and wind
the damaged tree is considered a science project monitored for plant survival
